The MEA annually awards $500. scholarships to the sons and daughters of MEA members who are graduating seniors. The scholarships are funded by the Educash program, where current and retired teachers donate $20. for a chance to win a $20. lottery. Last year we were able to award 20 scholarships to students.
Two years ago, the scholarship committee voted to open up the scholarship availability to children or grandchildren of retired teachers as well. Almost half of the funding for scholarships each year comes from retired teachers.
Deadline: Application deadline is March 14, 2012.
